It's Fall Y'all!

I LOVE fall, like on a scale from 1-10, fall lands at about 1,004,050. Yeah, that's about right! The cool brisk air, warm sweaters, leaves falling, hot coffee/cocoa, and fire-pits are just a few reasons why I adore this time of year. What better way to confess my love than on the first day of fall?! It's meant to be.

Things have slowed down soap-wise for me, which is not bad. I have had more time lately to enjoy my family and make more memories. Ultimately, that is what is most important in life. I have, however, been testing my new liquid soap that will launch this fall alongside my laundry butter and stain sticks.

I've been asked a few times about creating a shampoo soap bar (which I have been testing) but soap on your head is not something to casually mess with. The PH levels on your scalp have to remain stable (between 4-5) and using just any willy nilly shampoo bar (with a PH level of 10+) can result in damage to your hair in the long run. It will be a process but I'm hopeful I'll find a recipe for a bar that is gentle on scalps and hair.

Next up on the agenda is actually to butcher one of my male Muscovy's (on purpose this time). My husband will be doing this for us and has everything ready; we just more or less need the time to do it. Having kids certainly makes life seem so busy and hectic, but with the approach of fall, we like to wind down and not have a full schedule. Summer went by way too fast but we were able to create some really fun and adventure-filled memories. Camping was delightful, Omaha was a blast, and Lagoon all made for some really spectacular memories with friends and family.

One of the rare days my pigs weren't covered in dirt and mud

The pigs are on a count down too, they've got until the first week of November to enjoy their pig life. They are already so ginormous and thick so I can't imagine how much bigger they'll be in November! We have an excellent and highly rated butcher coming to dispatch, gut, and skin the pigs. He'll end up cutting the meat into primals and my hubby (Steve) will take over from there. Although, we are thinking of sending one to a local processor if we are going to sell the meat to friends/family. Steve is good at cutting up the meat but it takes quite a bit of time if you are doing it alone and only for the third time. Next year, we're thinking of upping the amount of piggies we get since we've had so many people ask about buying some. Shoot, we might even have to start a meat company! If Steve and I could do it, we'd buy a bunch of land and raise cattle, pigs, and ducks as a sole income. Being a farmer in the state of Utah is not for the faint of heart though, so for now we have to have other sources of income. It's crazy to think I went from a semi-city girl to this country lovin', pig and duck raisin' gal. Sadly, we chose the wrong state to love the country life, seeing as most of the land is extremely pricey and being sold to build massive homes and subdivisions. However, the up side is all the awesome family we have within 20 minutes of us all! Living in a different state for 5+ years really makes you appreciative of being close to family.

On a side note, I cannot wait for Halloween this year! My country lovin' family is actually dressing up in...... surprise! Star Wars. Haha, yeah doesn't make much sense on that forte but we do love us some Star Wars! Steve will be Darth Vader, I will be Princess Leia (calm down, I'm being the modest Leia), Corb will be a storm trooper, and mister JJ will be R2D2. It's going to be glorious and I can't freaking wait! I never understood how much parents could love holidays until I had kids of my own! it's so fun to watch from their perspective and you almost get to relive the kid like feelings you had when you were that age. Well, okay, maybe I still have kid feelings here and there about random stuff. I'm pretty mature for my age.... HA! I'm that weird Mom that sings along to Disney movies and dances in the living room. My kids are gonna be so embarrassed of me and I don't even care haha.

Okay, I think I'm done revealing too much about myself. Y'all probably think I'm crazy! But, then again, who cares! :)
